Libring Team

Júlia Carmona, Front End Developer

At Libring, we aren’t just a company. We are made up of people from around the globe, and we may be biased, but we wanted to show you who we are and what makes the Libring team the greatest crew around!

Our globetrotter, Júlia Carmona, an advocate for strong females in the tech and science industry, gives us a look into her everyday life working as a Front End Developer for Libring.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your role at Libring.

A: Hello, my name is Júlia and I am a digital nomad! Currently, I work with the front end team that is responsible for EDGE web interface. Me and the team are responsible for creating new features of the system and also for their maintenance to ensure that everything is working fine!

I graduated from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. My major was Biomedical Informatics. My major may sound weird for a person who works with development, but the truth is: I am passionate about it and I had lots of development courses at University.

Side note: While studying at the University of São Paulo, Júlia also traveled to New York to study Biomedical Science at SUNY Plattsburgh and to Lisbon, Portugal for additional classes in Informatic Engineering. Before graduating she worked as an intern here in Boston at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Libring?

A: The learning part. I love to learn new things. Everyday a new challenge arises, and we have to constantly search new ways to improve our system. I am working with the team the beginning of last year and I have already being involved on creating new features, data collection processes, creating scripts, API, etc.. I am truly curious and the team knows that, so I always have something new to solve on my to do list.

I also like the team a lot! Although I work remotely, I feel like we work really close to each other. We have developed a true friendship, and I think this is great!

Q: What do you think makes Libring stand out from its competitors?

A: I believe our system is unique! We work with a large number of connections. Most of our competitors can’t. Also, we are a highly customizable and flexible solution, this makes us really special. We work hard to meet our clients needs and make them happy! Laughs

Q: What do you do for fun?

A: I love to travel, to read, watch TV shows and cook! I am always traveling, every 15 days I am working from a different place. In my free time, I always try to watch a TV show or read a book to relax.

I also like to contribute to open source projects, recently I started to help a friend with the UI of project that he is developing:, a repository of public data in an accessible format.

Side Note: In addition to working on open source projects like, Júlia co-founded PyLadies-RP, a branch of the international community to help women become active participants and leaders in the Python programming language.

Q: That’s so cool! What is your favorite place to travel to?

A: I don’t have a favorite place! I actually love to go to new places, but I do like to visit my friends, and I am always returning to their homes. I go to Ribeirão Preto, Varginha (where my parents live,) Curitiba, Belo Horizonte among others.

Thanks Júlia!
